When you apply for and use The Bowling Blueprint, we collect the following information:
- Account information: Full name, email address, password (stored encrypted), industry role, and application text.
- Content you create: Responses, votes, and other contributions you submit.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, and access timestamps for security and rate-limiting purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To operate and maintain your account and access to the platform.
- To display your name and industry role alongside your contributions.
- To send you email notifications about your account (verification, approval, password reset).
- To enforce community standards and prevent abuse (rate limiting, moderation).
- To improve the platform and understand how it's used.
3. Information Visibility
When you submit a response, your full name and industry role are displayed publicly alongside your content. Your email address is never shown publicly. Your application text is only visible to administrators.
4. Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously:
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text.
- All forms are protected against cross-site request forgery (CSRF).
- Database queries use prepared statements to prevent SQL injection.
- Sessions are secured with httponly cookies and strict mode.
- Rate limiting protects against brute-force attacks.
5. Cookies
We use essential cookies only:
- Session cookie: Maintains your login state (expires when you close your browser).
- Remember me cookie: If you opt in, keeps you logged in for 30 days.
We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or third-party advertising cookies.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties. Your data is used solely for operating The Bowling Blueprint platform.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
Your account data is retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. Upon deletion, your personal information will be removed, though anonymized contributions may remain.
